26º Critics Choice Awards: Tudo o que você precisa saber sobre o prêmio

Em um ano atípico, a temporada de premiações começa a dar os primeiros passos para decidir quais foram as melhores produções de cinema e televisão. O Critics Choice Awards, um dos mais importantes eventos período, vai apresentar os vencedores neste domingo (7). O prêmio é votado pela Associação de Críticos de Cinema e Televisão dos norte-americanos.
Esta será a 26ª edição da premiação e, por conta da pandemia do coronavírus, será realizada de forma híbrida. Com o anfitrião, Taye Diggs, alguns apresentadores estarão no palco, enquanto indicados aparecem por videoconferência diretamente de casa. O formato é o mesmo já utilizado nas mais recentes edições do Emmy e do Globo de Ouro. A transmissão terá início às 21h (horário de Brasília) e, no Brasil, ficará a cargo do canal TNT.
Como funciona o Critics Choice Awards
A premiação é uma votação dos críticos de Hollywood participantes da Critics Choice Association e engloba cinema e televisão. O evento possui tanto categorias técnicas quanto artísticas e é um dos que mais distribui prêmios na indústria.
Cada categoria do prêmio pode ter até 10 indicados, e, em cinema, ele possui algumas categorias extras como Melhor jovem ator/atriz, Melhor elenco e Melhor comédia. Nas últimas edições também existiam categorias específicas para blockbusters, mas isso foi retirado em 2021 e migrado para Critics Choice Super Awards, nova premiação exclusiva para filmes e gêneros mais populares com o público.
Termômetro para o Oscar
Em um ano normal, o Critics Choice Awards é uma das principais prévias do que está por vir no Oscar. No entanto, em 2021 por conta das mudanças de datas de grandes premiações e principalmente do evento da Academia de Artes e Ciências Cinematográficas, a atual celebração pode não adiantar tantos vencedores, mas dá força a nomes na corrida pela estatueta dourada.
Os favoritos da crítica
Todos os anos alguns filmes e séries chegam na premiação com o ar de vencedores e em 2021 não é diferente. Em cinema, os principais favoritos aos maiores prêmios são Nomadland e Minari, o primeiro por ter levado as estatuetas importantes do Globo de Ouro e o segundo que vem como Parasita foi em 2020, um filme de língua estrangeira que conquistou o público norte-americano e chega forte na temporada. Não dá para descartar Mank, o original da Netflix tem 11 indicações.
Ainda em cinema, alguns atores e atrizes estão na disputa por grandes conquistas para se fortalecerem no caminho do Oscar. Frances McDormand tenta levar Melhor atriz por Nomadland, mas tem a concorrência de Andra Day, que levou o Globo de Ouro pela interpretação de Billie Holiday em The United States vs. Billie Holiday, e Viola Davis que corre por fora com a interpretação de Ma Rainey em A voz suprema do blues. O ator mais bem cotado é Chadwick Boseman, que ganharia um prêmio póstumo pelo mesmo filme de Viola Davis, e também pode abocanhar Melhor ator coadjuvante, em Destacamento Blood.
Nas séries, The crown é ampla favorita em drama, tanto para os prêmios principais quanto em atuação. O seriado simplesmente fez a limpa no Globo de Ouro, levando quatro para casa. Em comédia, o fenômeno do Emmy e vencedor de dois Globos de Ouro, Schitt’s creek sai muito na frente das demais em todas as categorias. Podem surpreender, Lovecraft country e Ozark, em drama, e Ted Lasso e The flight attendant em comédia.
Outra disputa boa está em minisséries, sem Watchmen na corrida, todos os concorrentes têm chances. Estão mais fortes Mrs. America, muito indicado no Globo de Ouro e no Emmy, mas ainda sem grandes conquistas, e O gambito da rainha vencedora de Melhor minissérie e Melhor atriz, com Anya Taylor-Joy. Normal people e Small Axe podem surpreender, principalmente em categorias de atuação.
