A cantora Lady Gaga foi a grande vencedora do MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), uma das maiores premiações da música que escolhe anualmente os melhores artistas internacionais em várias categorias. Gaga foi homenageada com o primeiro Tricon Award da premiação e recebeu outras quatro estatuetas - Artista do Ano, Música do Ano, Melhor Fotografia e Melhor Colaboração. Outro destaque da noite foi o artista The Weekend que levou o principal prêmio da noite, na categoria Clipe do Ano, por Blinding Lights.
O evento aconteceu ao vivo e ao ar livre, em vários locais de Nova York (EUA), com apresentação da atriz Keke Palmerem. A noite contou com shows de artistas como Maluma, Black Eyed Peas, Bella Haddid, Ariana Grande, The Weekend, Miley Cirus, entre outros. As performances foram realizadas à distância, em respeito às regras de prevenção ao novo coronavírus.
